Nada Vujat - Legal Practitioner Director

Nada Vujat is a former graduate of Newcastle University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts, as well as the University of New South Wales, where she acquired her Bachelor of Laws. She also holds a Master of Health Law from the University of Sydney and is a trained mediator. In July 2009, Nada presented to the 31st International Congress on Law and Mental Health at New York University Law School.

Expertise

Nada specialises in a range of legal areas, including motor vehicle claims, insurance claims and medical law. She further provides expertise in all workplace matters, including industrial relations and employment law, and employment contracts, as well as occupational health and safety matters and breach of contract cases. Having worked with a wide range of clients to date, Nada is skilled in tackling defamation issues and professional negligence cases. She also offers services relating to superannuation claims and disputes, wills/powers of attorney/guardianship, and Family Provisions Act claims.

Rebecca Flick - Legal Practitioner Director

Rebecca Flick has worked in family law and criminal law for over 10 years, having been admitted to practice following her studies in 2004. Rebecca also worked in the legal field prior to her admission.

Rebecca has a kind and friendly manner, with a no nonsense attitude to representing her clients and obtaining the highest of results.

During Rebecca’s time as a lawyer she has handled thousands of matters and appeared before the Family Court, Federal Circuit Court (previously known as Federal Magistrates Court), NSW Supreme Court, NSW District Court, NSW Local Court, Land and Environment Court and Industrial Relations Tribunal.

In addition to Rebecca’s vast knowledge in the areas of Family Law (including De facto Relationship Law and Child Support) and Criminal Law, she has had a variety of experience in Property Acquisitions including Native Title, Conveyancing, Property Law, Wills, Powers of Attorney and Enduring Guardians, Probate and Administration, Family Provisions, Liquor Licensing, Cost Applications, Local Government, Environmental and Planning Law.

Rebecca is well aware that separating from a spouse is difficult and stressful, and she is able to advise you throughout the process and achieve the best result for you. Whether achieving a result by consent or looking after all aspects of the matter in Court, regardless of any complexities which your matter may have, often being able to provide you with practical approaches to resolving your matter quickly and cost effectively. 

Rebecca’s diligent attitude to achieving a high result for her clients is also proven in the manner in which she assists people in criminal matters, offering no judgment only assistance, advising you and representing you throughout the process. Rebecca has experience in the defending and prosecution of matters in the criminal jurisdiction.

Outside of work Rebecca regularly participates in community talks on various topics, particularly relating to Family Law, and offers her spare time to local community groups and schools. Being local to the area Rebecca takes pride in being able to assist those in the local community. Rebecca is also a member of BNI, a business networking group in Cessnock, which gives her the opportunity to maintain strong business connections in the community.

Caitlin Sauer - Solicitor

Caitlin Sauer graduated from the University of New England in 2015 after completing a combined Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Criminology. Caitlin continued her studies and finished her Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice in 2016.
 
Since joining Emery Partners Caitlin has been gaining experience in Family Law, Criminal Law, Estate Planning, Conveyancing and Commercial Law. 
 
Caitlin has a passion to specialise in the areas of Family Law and Criminal Law in the future.
 
Caitlin is passionate about working with her clients achieve the best outcomes possible for them.
 
Caitlin enjoys being a part of the local netball community and enjoys relaxing with family and friends on the weekends.

Carley Jacka

Carley commenced with Emery Partners in 2007 and has developed expertise assisting in personal injury and employment law. With an Advanced Diploma in business administration and legal services, people are Carley’s passion [and after hours, she finds time to help out our four legged furry friends too].

When asked why she has remained loyal to EP, Carley says:

“I love to help people in crisis; people in need. It gives me enormous satisfaction to shine a little hope in troubled times.”

Deborah Bender

Deb originally joined our firm in 2000, climbing the ranks from office junior and is now one of our extremely competent conveyancing assistants.

After a short time away to have her babies, Deb returned to us in 2010. Deb and Rochelle are now the powerhouse which make up the conveyancing team, under the direction of Louise Selmes.

Blessed with a young family Deb is finding her organisational skills which she is so well known for in the firm, are being carried through to her family life. Deb is a keen netballer and loves nothing more than relaxing with family and friends. When time allows working on her handicap in golf is a nice break from her hectic life.

Fiona Wallace

Fiona came to the Emery Partners team in 1989 in our accounts department and is currently our office all-rounder and with her love of numbers has returned to the accounting department.

Before leaving in 2000 to have her twins Fiona also headed up our typing pool.

Fiona returned to the firm in 2007 for what she thought was going to be a short term position but once we had such wonderful skills back, we would not let her leave us again. Attention to detail and a sound understanding of the Law makes Fiona a vital member of our team.

As a mother to two teenage boys Fiona’s excellent time management skills shine and are often called into play when she is at work. Fiona enjoys getting out on the court and indulging in her passion of netball, she also devotes any free time to the local rugby league club and if by chance she has any time to relax, this is spent with her family and friends

Rochelle Selmes

Rochelle has been in the legal industry for over 5 years commencing her employment with Emery Partners in 2010.

A local girl, who possesses all the skills, has passion and drive to be a success in conveyancing. Currently undertaking a conveyancing course with the Malka Group, Rochelle is on her way to becoming a licenced conveyancer. Attention to detail and a sound understanding of all aspects of conveyancing makes Rochelle a real asset to the firm.

Kirsten Culley

Kirsten is a long serving employee and has been part of the EP team for over 15 years. She has called Cessnock home since early girlhood and has raised her own family of three children locally. Kirsten is actively involved in local community organisations including St Patrick's School and the local junior soccer and karate clubs. 

When asked why she has remained so loyal to EP, she says: "I enjoy my work at Emery Partners and particularly like interacting with clients. I have stayed at EP for over 15 years because I consider all the people that work there to be my second family and truly enjoy the work environment that has been created there.
